THANK YOU...
I want to express my appreciation to EVERYONE who made this year’s Easter Pageant a huge blessing. It was wonderful! I have heard from many individuals who were blessed by the presentation, several who saw it for the first time this year. It is such a blessing to be able to work with such a talented crew. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication!

WORSHIP CHOIR & BAND SCHEDULE…
With the Pageant presentations behind us, we need to focus our attention on music for the upcoming Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday services. Our Good Friday Communion Service is on April 2nd at 7:00p.m. This service this year will be lead by the Worship Band and Vocal Team. Resurrection Sunday is on April 4th, and both morning services will be lead by the Worship Choir and Band. We will be rehearsing at our regular times (Choir at 7:15p.m./Band at 7:30) on Wednesday, March 31st. The first half of rehearsal we’ll be working on music for Resurrection Sunday. The Choir will be released earlier than normal so the Band and Vocal Team can focus on music for the Good Friday service.

There will be no rehearsal on Wednesday, April 7th.

DRAMA MINISTRY…
We are meeting on Wednesdays at 6:30p.m. in the Choir Room. If you would like to be a part of our Drama Ministry, please join us!

EASTER PAGEANT UPDATE…
Well, folks! THIS IS IT!!! The final Dress Rehearsal for the 2010 Parkway Easter Pageant is this Wednesday, March 24th at 7:15p.m. sharp! Everyone should be in the Worship Center, in costume, ready to start as close to 7:15p.m. as possible. We will have prayer, share a few notes and run the entire presentation…hopefully without stopping! Please plan to stay until 9:30p.m.

Just a note to remind you that if Nelson County Public Schools are closed again tomorrow, there will be no Wednesday evening activities (including rehearsal), so keep watching. If things are cancelled Wednesday evening it will be emailed, posted and the church website, and posted on Facebook.

There will be two Easter Pageant Information Meetings. The first will be on Sunday, January 31st, 12:00-12:30p.m. in the Choir Room. The second will be on Wednesday, February 3rd, 5:45-6:15p.m. in the Worship Center. Both meetings will cover the same information so you only need to come to the one that best fits your schedule. REHEARSAL RESUMES WEDNESDAY…
Our Worship Choir & Band Rehearsal resumes on Wednesday, January 6th. Worship Choir will meet in the Choir Room at 7:15p.m. Worship Band will meet in the Worship Center at 7:30p.m. We’ll be learning a couple of new songs and brushing up on a couple of songs we already know. Hope to see you there…and bring a friend to join us!

Devotional Thought for the Week…
Ministry: Shaped to Serve

Your hands shaped me and made me. Job 10:8 (NIV)
God formed every creature on this planet with a special area of expertise. Some animals run, some hop, some swim, some burrow, and some fly. Each has a particular role to play based on the way they were shaped by God. The same is true with humans. Each of us was uniquely designed, or "shaped" to do certain things.

Before architects design any new building they first ask, "What will be its purpose? How will it be used?" The intended function always determines the form of the building.

Before God created you, he decided what role he wanted you to play on earth. He planned exactly how he wanted you to serve him, and then he shaped you for those tasks. You are the way you are because you were made for a specific ministry.

The Bible says, "We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works" (Ephesians 2:10, NIV). Our English word "poem" comes from this Greek word translated "workmanship." You're God's hand-crafted work of art. You're not an assembly-line product, mass-produced without thought. You're a custom designed, one-of-a kind, original masterpiece.

God deliberately shaped and formed you to serve him in a way that makes your ministry unique. He carefully mixed the DNA recipe that created you. David praised God for this incredible personal attention to detail God gave in designing each of us: "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous" (Psalm 139:13-14, NLT).

Not only did God shape you before your birth, he planned every day of your life to support his shaping process. David continues, "Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed" (Psalm 139:16, NLT).

This means nothing that happens in your life is insignificant. God uses all of it to mold you for your ministry to others, and shape you for your service to him.

God never wastes anything. He would not give you abilities, interests, talents, gifts, personality, and life experiences unless he intended to use them for his glory. By identifying and understanding these factors you can discover God's will for your life.

The Bible says you are "wonderfully complex." You're a combination of many different factors: "The people I have shaped for myself will broadcast my praises." (Isaiah 43:21, NJB)

An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."

Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. This year’s program is called Sing We Now of Christmas and is a collection to favorite Christmas Carols arranged for choir and orchestra. The community choir is open to everyone, so invite someone and join us on Monday evening!

Paula Stafanovich and OMEGA will be premiering her new choral project “Let Your Glory Fall” on Friday, November 20th at 70:00p.m. at Immanual Baptist Church in Lexington. Tickets are $10 and proceeds benefit Lighthouse Ministries. For more information call 859-259-3434.

Announcements…
We are taking a ‘Fall Break’ on Wednesday, October 7th (no rehearsal), and Sunday, October 11th (no choir; orange vocal team and worship band will lead).

We are holding a REVIVAL, October 25th-28th. Josh Brown from Valley Creek Baptist Church in Elizabethtown will be our Worship Leader. Rick Howerton will be our guest speaker. Our Worship Choir & Band will be leading the Sunday Morning service that week and possibly one of the evening services. I’ll keep you posted as soon as I can meet with Josh and plan out the music.

The Stephen Foster Music Club’s annual Christmas program is on Sunday, December 6th. Community Choir Rehearsals will begin on Monday, October 19th at 7:00p.m. at Parkway. Songbooks and Rehearsal CDs are available at Parkway and can be either checked out or purchased. Call me at 348-4677 for details!

Nelson Baptist Association Choir…
You are invited to be a part of the choir which will be singing during the 7pm worship session of the Nelson Baptist Association annual meeting, Sunday, October 4 held at FBC Mt. Washington. Steve Florence, FBC Mt Washington Minister of Music, will be leading the choir. Choir participants will eat at 5:00pm, but registration is required for the meal, child care, and/or Kidz Worship. There are several ways to register: on-line at www.nelsonbaptistassociation.com , through your church, or by individual registration to the NBA office. Choir rehearsal will be at 5:45pm in the sanctuary of FBC MT. Washington. During that time, other attendees will be eating or looking at ministry displays in the gym. If you would like to sing, please sign-up in the Choir Room and check whether or not you will need a ride!

KIDZONE CHOIR...
Our KidZone Choir is starting on Wednesday, August 19th at 6:00p.m. and is open to all children grades K-6. The Grade K-2 Choir will be led by Bonnie Diersing and Brittany Crume. VOCAL TEAM AUDITIONS…
On Sunday, August 2nd at 6:00p.m., all returning Vocal Team Members will be meeting for auditions. Current Vocal Teams will be auditioned together as an ensemble. Be prepared to sing “Alive Forever Amen” or “Hosanna”, and “Amazed” or “Revelation Song” from the new Baptist Hymnal. You’re team will sing one upbeat and one slow song, and will be singing with the track.

On Sunday, August 2nd at 7:00p.m., we will be auditioning any prospective “new” Vocal Team Members. New members will be asked to sing one of the songs listed above AND one worship song of your own choosing. Vocal Team members must be active Worship Choir Members. The audition will consist of a questionnaire and voice assessment that will aid our selection team in placing members on a team. We currently have four teams that lead worship on Sundays at 8:15a.m. Vocal Team members are also asked to lead special services as needed.

Audition Packets are available in the Choir Room.

Our Fall Kick-off Banquet will be on Wednesday, August 5th at 6:00p.m. We will begin with dinner (which is provided), followed by a short meeting and rehearsal.

THE HOPPERS IN CONCERT…
On Thursday, July 30th at 7:00p.m., Parkway Baptist Church is hosting THE HOPPERS in concert. Admission is $10 and proceeds will go to benefit Bluegrass Christian Academy. A mass choir made up of Parkway and FBC Mt. Washington Choir members will sing ‘backup’ on several songs. If you would like to sing in the mass choir, plan to attend a special rehearsal on Wednesday, July 29th at 7:00p.m. in the Worship Center. Mass Choir Members will get free admission to the concert, but your family or friends not singing will need a ticket. Click here to purchase tickets online, or you can get them at the church office.

On Sunday, August 2nd at 7:00p.m. we will be auditioning any prospective “new” Vocal Team Members. Vocal Team members must be active Worship Choir Members. The audition will consist of a questionnaire and voice assessment that will aid our selection team in placing members on a team. We currently have four teams that lead worship on Sundays at 8:15a.m. Vocal Team members are also asked to lead special services as needed.

If you would like to sing in the mass choir, plan to attend a special rehearsal on Wednesday, July 29th at 7:00p.m. in the Worship Center. Mass Choir Members will get free admission to the concert, but your family or friends not singing will need a ticket. Click here to purchase tickets online, or you can get them at the church office.

MEDIA MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED…

Announcements…

WORSHIP CHOIR & BAND…
We are taking break from rehearsals through the summer. We will resume rehearsals at our NEW REHEARSAL TIME in August.

Our Fall Kick-off Banquet will be on Wednesday, August 5th at 6:00p.m. We will begin with dinner (which is provided), followed by a short meeting and rehearsal.

It’s time to register for the 2009 Christ Church Music & Worship Conference. This year the conference will feature Travis Cottrell, Tommy Walker, Bradley Knight, Landy and Joy Gardner, The Christ Church Choir, and many, many more. A NIGHT OF WORSHIP: UNTO THE LAMB…
Our Night of Worship with FBC Mt. Washington is this Sunday evening, May 31st, at FBC Mt. Washington. Here is the schedule for Sunday afternoon:

3:45p.m. – Rhythm Section rehearsal at FBC (all guitars, keyboards & drums - bring your own ear buds or headphones to plug into their Aviom system)
4:15p.m. – Horns & Woodwinds set up and tune
4:30p.m. – Choir in the loft and ready to sing
5:30p.m. – Open doors for congregation
6:00p.m. – A Night of Worship begins
7:00p.m. – Fellowship with FBC (They’re feeding us this time!)

Those Worship Choir Members who have signed up to ride the Parkway Bus should be ready to pull out of Parkway’s parking lot at 3:45p.m. We cannot leave any later than that, so please be ON TIME!!!

VOCAL TEAM AUDITIONS…
Vocal Team Auditions are coming in July. Dates will be announced soon. Vocal Team members must be active Worship Choir Members. The audition will consist of a questionnaire and voice assessment that will aid our selection team in placing members on a team. We currently have four teams that lead worship on Sundays at 8:15a.m. Vocal Team members are also asked to lead special services as needed.

MEDIA MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED…
It’s time to start praying about serving in one of our Media Ministries. We need a few additional lighting, video and television technicians for Sunday morning and Wednesday evening services. If you would like to help, please contact Jeff Lutz.

THE HOPPERS IN CONCERT…
Thursday, July 30th at 7:00p.m. Admission is $10 and proceeds will go to benefit Bluegrass Christian Academy. A mass choir made up of Parkway and FBC Mt. Washington Choir members will sing ‘backup’ on several songs. If you would like to sing in the mass choir, plan to attend choir rehearsal on Sunday, June 7th at 5:00p.m.
